Guardianships & Conservatorships:
Does our family need one?

A Guardianship or Conservatorship is a set of court supervised proceedings that appoints an entity or individual to manage the affairs of a person that is incapacitated. A Guardian is a person appointed for the care of the person and will be given the authority to make decisions about all the care and custody of an incapacitated person. A Conservator is a person appointed for the care of the estate (finances) and is given the authority to manage and control the financial affairs of an incapacitated person. Conservatorships and Guardianships can be presented to the court at the same time.

There are several types of adult guardianships available. The decision to apply for a guardian can be an emotional one for your family. Our firm can prepare a thoughtful plan based upon the facts of your situation to ensure that the best case is presented to the court for all parties involved in the matter.
